Have you ever wondered...
if anyone is reading what you write, much less laughing at it? With so many exceptional blogs out there to visit, this thought crosses my mind every so often.
My blog doesn't teach anything. I am not an expert in anything related to cat care, except for possibly how "not to" do it. I elaborated on this fact in an earlier blog post.
Perhaps my concern is due in part to the company I keep. I spend most of my day with two feline friends rarely amused by anything I write. Usually, they stare back at me with blank expressions on their faces whenever I read them a post out loud before publishing it. This lack of enthusiastic praise tends to create a cloud of doubt on even the sunniest day.
And what if readers don't understand my slightly cynical sense of humor? What if no one actually laughs out loud at Benjamin Bunny's or Gracie's latest adventure? I laugh so much while writing about them - I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I wrote about the kindergartner closing his mouth so a cat wouldn't get his tongue - I tend to assume other people will laugh too.
This is why I was completely taken by surprise to discover that Feline Funnies is a finalist in two categories of the BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Pet Blogging & Social Media Awards - Best Humor Blog and Best New Blog. I am still stunned, but obviously not speechless.
It makes me so happy to think that maybe, just maybe, the posts I create are adding a little humor to someone's day. Making them forget their worries while giggling out loud at something outrageous either I or my feline friends have done.
This blog is dedicated to my former fourth grade students who used to beg me to tell them about Bunny and Gracie's latest adventures. I promised that I would write them down someday. I hope they feel I have kept my promise. I hope that they are as proud of me as I always will be of them.
I would like to thank the readers who nominated Feline Funnies for the BlogPaws Nose to Nose awards. Benjamin Bunny, Gracie, and I feel so grateful to have such kind readers. We promise to keep trying to add a little humor to your day with each post published in the future.
Until next time, remember...
Laughing with cats soothes the soul.
